The Enfants Riches Déprimés Oversized Safety Pin is punk’s crudest gesture recast as an heirloom — a blown-up safety pin that turns a symbol of make-do defiance into something ornate and deliberate. It doesn’t hold anything together. It insists on falling apart with style.
The pin is worked in antiqued silver-tone, oxidized and blackened so it reads aged rather than new — the raw utility of the original safety pin dressed in the weight of fine metalwork.
The head is crowned with a cluster of sculpted rose motifs, the same gothic romance ERD threads through its silver, transforming a functional clasp into a small monument. Function surrendered entirely to ornament.
From the base loop hangs a braided black leather tassel, adding movement and a second material against the cold silver — hard and soft, sacred and profane, in one object. Worn pinned to trousers, a jacket or a bag, it’s a statement rather than a fastening. Hand-finished as a strictly limited accessory.
