Enfants Riches Déprimés Don Van Vliet Shirt

The ERD Don Van Vliet Shirt treats a painting like a headline and lets the paint do most of the talking. White cotton, cut in ERD’s boxy oversized fit, the chest opens with “DON VAN VLIET” in bold black block capitals across the top, sitting directly above a dense, painterly composition — smeared blacks and golds bleeding into a rough abstract figure, brushwork left visibly unfinished, part portrait and part collapse, framed tight against the body of the shirt.

Running vertically down the right edge of the panel, a thin line of fine print text sits alongside the label’s name, “enfants riches déprimés,” stacked letter by letter down the side like a caption nobody bothered to make horizontal. The composition stays loose and unresolved throughout, textures overlapping in a way that reads more like a studio canvas photographed mid-process than a clean finished print — chaos given just enough structure to sit on cotton.

Made from 500gsm cotton in ERD’s oversized unisex fit, the shirt is produced in a strictly limited micro-batch, individually hand-finished so the painterly graphic prints with slight variation in color and texture piece to piece. It comes in S, M, L, and XL. That much layered detail doesn’t survive a careless wash, so check garment care before this one meets water or heat.

Enfants Riches Déprimés — French for “Depressed Rich Kids” — was founded in 2012 by conceptual artist Henri Alexander Levy, colliding 1970s French avant-garde tailoring with raw punk nihilism. The label frequently draws on outsider musicians and artists as reference points, treating their work as raw material for garments that carry weight without needing to explain the source — hyper-exclusive objects built for people who already know.

Crafted across Los Angeles (USA), Italy, and Japan.

Unfinished on purpose. Still says everything it needs to.
