Enfants Riches Deprimes Canvas Chore Jacket

The Enfants Riches Déprimés Canvas Chore Jacket arrives looking like it was worn through an entire biography nobody wanted published — every surface covered in the handwriting, imagery, and accumulated evidence of a life that used its own clothing as a notebook because paper felt too permanent.

The body is cut from a dense, heavily washed canvas in a faded charcoal-black that has been aged, distressed, and worked until the fabric feels like it predates the brand that produced it. A warm brown corduroy collar folds flat across the neckline — a structural callback to French and American workwear tradition, anchoring the jacket in the utilitarian archetype it is about to vandalise. Across the entire surface, hand-applied graphics, scrawled text, and photographic fragments accumulate like graffiti on a condemned wall: the word MUTE appears in rough white lettering on the upper right chest alongside a partially obscured number; a photographic image — a figure caught in motion, grainy and reproduced with darkroom imprecision — occupies the lower front panel; and along the left cuff, vertical block text reads MEMORIES FROM THE WORKING CLASSE, the dropped final letter an intentional fracture in the statement’s own grammar. Additional marks, smudges, and fragments of printed text scatter across the body in a density that resists cataloguing — this is not decoration, it is accumulation.

Constructed in a cropped, boxy oversized unisex silhouette with enough weight and structure to stand as outerwear in its own right. Each unit is individually hand-finished, hand-distressed, and hand-marked within a strictly limited micro-batch production, making every jacket a functionally unrepeatable artefact. Specialist dry clean only is strongly recommended; store on a wide padded hanger away from direct sunlight and moisture, and do not attempt to clean or remove any applied imagery, text, or distressing — consult full garment care guidance before first wear. Available in sizes S, M, L, XL.

Enfants Riches Déprimés — French for “Depressed Rich Kids” — was founded in 2012 by conceptual artist Henri Alexander Levy. The label welds 1970s French avant-garde tailoring to raw punk nihilism, producing hyper-exclusive isolating objects that treat the chore jacket — the anonymous uniform of manual labour — as a canvas for the memories, slogans, and images that working life was never given time to record.

Crafted across Los Angeles (USA), Italy, and Japan.

The jacket remembers everything. The person who wore it was told to forget.

FAQ

What material is the Enfants Riches Déprimés Canvas Chore Jacket made from?
A dense cotton canvas in faded charcoal-black, heavily washed and aged during production. The collar is constructed from warm brown corduroy. Every surface has been individually hand-worked with applied text, photographic imagery, and distress marks, giving each jacket a unique, unrepeatable character.

What do the graphics and text on this jacket depict?
The surface accumulates multiple hand-applied elements: the word MUTE in rough white lettering, a grainy photographic fragment of a figure in motion, the phrase MEMORIES FROM THE WORKING CLASSE running vertically along the left cuff, scattered numerals, and additional smudged marks and text fragments. The composition functions as an assemblage — a personal archive printed onto outerwear.

Is the distressing and writing on this jacket intentional?
Yes. Every mark — ageing, staining, scrawled text, and printed imagery — is hand-applied during ERD’s production process. These elements are integral to the design and should never be cleaned off, repaired, or treated as defects.

How should I care for this jacket?
Specialist dry clean only. Store on a wide padded hanger in a cool, dry space away from sunlight. Do not machine wash, tumble dry, steam, or store in plastic. Take particular care not to disturb the applied text and photographic imagery on the surface.

Is the Canvas Chore Jacket a limited-edition release?
Yes — and more so than most. Each jacket is individually hand-distressed and hand-marked within an already strictly limited micro-batch, making every unit a one-of-a-kind artefact. Once the run is sold through, the design will not return in any form.
