Product Care
ERD pieces are not fast fashion. They are not disposable. They were made slowly, deliberately, and with materials that respond to how you treat them. Some of them already look destroyed. That does not mean they are.
Read this before you wash anything.
General Rules
Before anything else — read the care label inside the garment. Every ERD piece carries specific instructions for that fabric and construction. When in doubt, do less. Cold water, no heat, no machine. The safest decision is almost always the most conservative one.
Never iron directly on a graphic. Never bleach. Never tumble dry on high. These are not suggestions.
Leather & Distressed Leather
Leather is the most unforgiving material ERD works with — and the most rewarding when treated properly.
Keep leather away from direct sunlight and heat sources. UV exposure fades and dries it out over time. If it gets wet, let it air dry naturally at room temperature — never use a hairdryer or radiator. Once dry, apply a leather conditioner sparingly with a soft cloth to restore moisture.
For hand-painted or hand-distressed leather pieces, do not attempt to clean the painted areas with any solvent or cleaning product. Spot clean the lining only if necessary, with a lightly damp cloth.
Store leather flat or hung on a wide, padded hanger. Never fold it long-term — creases become permanent.
Graphic T-Shirts
Turn the garment inside out before washing. Always. This protects the graphic from friction and direct heat contact.
Machine wash cold on a delicate cycle, or hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent. Do not wring or twist — press the water out gently and lay flat to dry. Never put a graphic tee in the tumble dryer. The heat degrades the print, shrinks the fabric, and shortens the life of the piece.
Do not iron directly over the graphic. If pressing is needed, iron inside out on low heat only.
Hoodies & Sweatshirts
Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, inside out. Use a mild detergent — nothing with bleach or optical brighteners. Lay flat to dry or hang loosely. Avoid the dryer where possible; if you must use one, tumble dry on the lowest heat setting only.
ERD hoodies are pre-washed but may experience minor shrinkage with repeated high-heat washing. Cold water and air drying preserve both the size and the weight of the fabric.
Jackets & Outerwear
Denim and canvas jackets can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth for minor marks. For a full wash, turn inside out and machine wash cold on a gentle cycle. Hang to dry — never tumble dry outerwear.
For sherpa, fleece-lined, or quilted pieces, follow the care label precisely. These constructions are sensitive to heat and agitation. Hand washing in cold water is always the safer choice.
Do not dry clean unless the label specifically instructs it.
Pants & Denim
Turn inside out. Wash cold. Hang dry.
For raw or selvedge denim — wash as infrequently as possible. Spot clean when you can. When a full wash is necessary, hand wash in cold water, no spin cycle, hang dry away from direct sunlight. This preserves the fade pattern and the integrity of the denim.
For non-denim trousers, follow the care label. When pressing, use a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric to avoid shine on dark materials.
Belts
Do not submerge leather belts in water. Wipe clean with a dry or very slightly damp cloth. Apply a small amount of leather conditioner occasionally to prevent cracking, especially at the buckle holes where stress concentrates.
Store flat or loosely coiled — never tightly rolled for long periods.
Storage
All ERD pieces should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Leather and outerwear pieces should be hung on proper hangers — not wire. Graphic tees and knitwear should be folded flat, not hung, to prevent stretching at the shoulders.
For long-term storage, breathable garment bags are recommended. Avoid plastic — it traps moisture.
Repairs
ERD pieces are built to last. If something fails — a seam, a buckle, a zipper — contact us before you take it anywhere else. In many cases, repairs can be handled directly.
